Always register with a GP nearby.\u00a0\u00a0<br>You visit the GP for all your health problems,\u00a0both physical and\u00a0mental. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most health issues can be treated by the GP.\u00a0The\u00a0GP does\u00a0not\u00a0automatically\u00a0prescribe\u00a0medication.\u00a0\u00a0<br>Sometimes\u00a0the\u00a0GP\u00a0will\u00a0visit\u00a0you\u00a0at home. These\u00a0consultations\u00a0are more\u00a0expensive.\u00a0<br><br>If\u00a0necessary,\u00a0the\u00a0GP\u00a0will\u00a0refer\u00a0you\u00a0to\u00a0a specialist at\u00a0the\u00a0hospital.\u00a0\u00a0<br>In\u00a0the\u00a0Netherlands,\u00a0you\u00a0cannot\u00a0go\u00a0directly\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0hospital,\u00a0unless\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0an\u00a0emergency.\u00a0<br>If you need specialist treatment, you will always receive a\u00a0<strong>referral letter<\/strong>\u00a0from the GP. This is usually sent digitally.
